A Single Photo Can Tell a Whole Story

I don’t know about you, but I adore looking back at old photographs of my childhood and my family and I try to remember that moment in time. Often I can’t, which is when I feel eternally grateful that someone was there to snap that picture of me. Seeing the yellow-y glow and crumpled edges of those photographs gives me all the feels.

The world is a sea of selfies nowadays but there’s nothing better, nothing that creates smiles, laughter and family quirks, than capturing those moments when they don’t know I’m snapping away. When you see those natural smiles filling their eyes or that scowl you’d forgotten your toddler made at you when they were cross. Those are the moments that matter. A single photo can tell a whole story. I can’t wait to tell yours.

I knew I wanted to create those lovely feels for others too and after I had my two awesome boys, I set out to capture the world, one picture at a time. I’m sure right now my boys do not appreciate having a photographer as their mum (poor boys), but one day I hope they will look back at the gazillion snaps of them and feel that warm buzz too.

Before I began shooting (my camera, obvs), you would’ve found me in the rewarding (and sometimes not very nice) world of social care. This environment may not be for everyone but it sure as heck allowed me to appreciate true beauty and unconditional love in this world. For every tear I’ve seen, I wanted to replace with a smile. For every look of sadness, to replace with laughter. So, with that vision in mind and camera in hand, SL photography was born. Based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire but love travelling to the surrounding areas like the old and beautiful city of Bath, stunning areas of Bristol and picturesque Somerset to capture your unique stories. You guys know all the best hangouts!
